As I have been approaching the initial release of Dark Room X, I hit a pretty major road block. Apparently, in air 1.5.2 adobe changed the way that escape works in full screen. Since there was no built in way to capture the escape key they added one. Unfortunately, this ruined the hack I instituted. So, I lost a day of development (I don’t get a lot of time to work on the project) rewriting my screen state toggling mechanism for the new system. But, that’s done now.
The next issue that I need to address is why the menu bar is not showing up on any platform other than OS X.
Oh, the joys of software development.
I love Dark Room so I just wanted to say that I appreciate your work!
Really glad to see you’re back up and running with this. Really anxious to X, or whatever you have to call it, ready to do some real work. Not been alot of competition or change in this space in awhile. WriteMonkey has pretty much just been running amok all alone, what with Q10 apparently out of the game for keeps. Yeah, I know there are alot of other “functional” WriteRoom clones out there, but they all pretty much feel like garbage (and some actually perform that well, too). Even with no recent development, I still ranked DarkRoom as my 3rd and likely final choice for this sort of app. It still feels good, I’ve never had it corrupt a file, and hey, you’ve got transparency and cool navigation icons ;-p
Anyway, I’ll be watching, and I’m sure I’m not alone.

I appreciate the support, and I hope that the new version meets your fancy. I am expecting to have a preview release soon, as the software is ready for testing as of five minutes ago. So, in the next couple days I should be posting a preview on this site, and the “official” beta will be released on the launch of the new site.
