Heroes: Season 4

The new season of Heroes started last week. I have been debating whether or not to watch it. I recently caught up by watching season three, and the premiere of season four. My question is: is anyone still watching this show?

The first season of heroes was terrific, but the show has gone down hill since. The second season was utterly nonsensical. The show was clearly a one trick pony, and the powers they gave the main characters didn’t make sense in an on going world. In the second season the writers solution was to give Peter amnesia, and banish Hiro into the past. To make matters worse, the story wasn’t very compelling.

The third season was a mess. The first half, aka volume three was very rushed, and sloppily handled taking down over powered characters. Both Peter and Hiro lost their powers, and Peter got a pathetic power in replacement. In the fourth volume (the second half of season three) featured another rushed story that was a tired story that has been done to death in all media (government persecution of a minority group). In this volume Hiro kind of gets his powers back, but not really, or rather they don’t work correctly. Lovely.

The fourth seasons, aka volume five hasn’t covered enough territory to determine whether or not the storyline will be good, since the villains remain largely cloaked in mystery, and their motives are yet unknown.

What do you think? Are you still watching the show?

I stopped after the third episode of season 3.

You are absolutely correct – the first season was top tier television. It was epic.

I will never watch the show again… with all the amnesia / past peter / future peter / past hiro / future hero / am I good / am i bad / maybe I’m both / who are you / etc I literally could not keep the characters straight.

The show is done after this year and I could not possibly care any less.

    I am watching both.

Both had a good start out of the gate, however I feel that the drama in House was much more interesting then Heros. However, I love Heros and will watch the whole season. Keep in mind Heros got messed up because of the writers strike and I contribute that to some bad times with them.

I would watch Heroes I guess if anything other then season one could come recommended. I’m not much of a super hero/comic book guy anyway so really this show is kinda outside of my interest but I guess I would watch season 1 if it came up.

Honestly my TV watching has drastically gone down and I’ve been watching a lot more movies and actually playing more games. Both I have a lot more interest in. TV is SUCH a huge time commitment so I’ve dropped a lot of shows. Right now the only show I’m watching is Mad Men. The only show I watched in the summer was Rescue Me. Only show I will watch this coming winter will be 24. Still that is a huge time commitment. I dropped “Lost” “House” “Sons of Anarchy” lots of show I actually like I just haven’t kept with but I like the idea of going back to them someday.

    13 episodes of Mad Men
    20+ of rescue me
A season of 24 is like 18 hours. It’s crazy. I also don’t have cable but I do have netflix so so I do watch some on and off programming on there.

Regardless you are a good man jja I hope you enjoy the programming. You should do a “live blog” of all new episodes and do “recaps” at the end.

You should absolutely watch the first season of Heroes. And then, just be done with it. They set the bar so high there was no way they could top it. I am glad you dropped Lost, because that show is garbage. House is a show you can watch random episodes of and are fine, no reason to watch it diligently.

Heroes is in my netflix queue just waiting to be watched along with 80 other titles. There is so much content I’m never going to be able to watch, play, read, listen to everything I want to.

Season 4 of lost was really good then the start of five TOTALLY turned me off. Before it “ends” and when season 5 comes to watch instantly on netflix I will catch up.

Yeah House is best half drunk late night on USA.

        you are jja
