Installing Adobe Air on 64bit Linux

So, I recently installed Ubuntu 9.10 64bit on my pc. And, when I went to install Adobe Air so that I could test DarkRoomX it didn’t work. Or, rather the installer completed but it didn’t actually work. So, I had to dig up some instructions for getting it to work (you need to manually install some 32bit libs). Here’s the link if anyone else is trying to do the same thing:

Thank you for this. I converted the instructions to a shell script to automate the process:

@mla – I tried your script, but it didn’t work for me.

The unfortunate side effect is that it completely hosed flash on my system. I am running a fairly fresh image of ubuntu 9.10 (64-bit) and all attempts to remove and reinstall the flash plugins since have failed.

From synaptic, trying to install the packages { flashplugin-installer, flashplugin-nonfree, nspluginwrapper } now always fail towards the end (I’ve tried completely removing them and reinstalling them, to no avail). Excerpt from the synaptic details pane : :

    Download done.
    Flash Plugin installed.
nspluginwrapper: no appropriate viewer found for /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so
    dpkg: error processing flashplugin-installer (–configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of flashplugin-nonfree:
    flashplugin-nonfree depends on flashplugin-installer; however:
Package flashplugin-installer is not configured yet.
    dpkg: error processing flashplugin-nonfree (–configure):
    dependency problems – leaving unconfigured
No apport report written because the error message indicates its a followup error from a previous failure.
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    flashplugin-installer
    flashplugin-nonfree
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
A package failed to install. Trying to recover:
