Actually I found this site looking for an explanation of the term "NaN" :P Turns out that I found it elsewhere but stayed here anyway to read most of the blog.

Yeah this post is old, but if you're looking for a woman's response I'm a femme (no not a feminist, they scare me).

This rant is gonna be hella long, so bare with me ;)

Maybe if you watch the film Iron Jawed Angels you'll agree that the endeavors of Feminism were once very well worth all of the shouting, rallying and lobbying. Modern feminists on the other hand have ridden the train off the cliff, now an over-charged liberal farce that I cringe at and roll my eyes over.

You made a good point that by now women have won the freedoms here that they've wanted for centuries. Everything that we deserve the option of, on equal par with men, has been earned.

Feminist movements in the U.S. today need only continue to fight against the last great disrespect to the gender, the demoralization and exploitation of women.

Besides that campaign, which may never end, they've fulfilled their initial agenda in America, so I agree it's not a bad idea for them to act on behalf of the civil rights of women globally.

Just don't forget that American women are still battling the unpredictable threats to them of rape, incest, sexual harrassment, and many forms of abuse. These pose far more devastating consequences to the health of the human race than does the issue of which gender brings home more bacon.

Yes, to preserve the family at least one of the parents should be able to be with the kids at all times. A woman can work and the man care for the children, in some families this is the desired approach. Also, thanks to gender role reform that took place decades ago, while the kids are in school a woman can work part-time or attend college classes without being sneered at.

Women working is not the true threat to the nuclear family - The lack of shared values, lack of communication, infidelity, dishonesty, selfishness, vanity and greed are the things that are and have been killing the bonds of traditional family structure.

It's time we stop blaming society or gender issues on our shortcomings, and only hold ourselves as individuals responsible for the family's decay.

Money is not more important than talking with your family or spending time together. I hope you all realize that to nurture a healthy family each parent has the responsibility to love, care for, teach and discipline the children, as well as each parent showing respect and care for the other.

The premise of Stepford Wives IS a nightmare and horror to women, because we do not exist solely to please men, serve their wishes, or have and raise their babies. The same as men do not exist solely to earn the money to provide for women & children, fight in combat to protect women & children, or to reproduce. Would you wholly serve a woman at the expense and sacrifice of your own will, desires and happiness?

Unless that subservience would make you happy, I will guess "NO".

The concept of a gender role can be just as degrading to men as it can be to women. Men should not be regarded as robots or sex-machines, and neither should women.

No, motherhood should not be frowned on or disrespected... It's just a matter of priorities. Yes, thanks to birth control, both men and women share the responsibility and choice of postponing or raising a family. So, sometimes to be the best parent, a woman needs to pursue a career before she becomes a mother.

If more couples would get serious about birth control then perhaps we wouldn't have families where both parents work just struggling to make financial ends meet.

We (both women and men) are not our gender. Nor are we gender stereotypes designed to superficially serve each other's base needs. With varying degrees of individual effort, we all have equal capacity to strive to achieve and to better all things - mentally, emotionally and physically.

I am glad I spent the time to read this post. I agree with a good amount of it. My Sister babysits for my cuz alot and the kid has started calling her (my sis) mom. Do we really want a nation that has absolutly no family structure bc we have all been raised by someone elses family

As far as entertainment value, not really. As a comedy it is not funny. As a satire it doesn't work. And, it definately is not a thriller. But, it also does not feel clunky. I suppose you really have to see it yourself.

Hmm... Many good points. I would be curious to here what a woman has to say in reply to this. I would still like to know though. Bottom line, is the movie entertaining?
