Thus far, the showing at E3 has been utterly dominated by Nintendo. At this point, I do not really have any interest in any Xbox games until Halo 3 comes out. Worse for Sony, they have nothing that interests me at all. Now, Nintendo on the other hand is bringing the house. They have several strong series coming out for the Wii and DS this year. It has been a long time in coming, and something they did not do well with the GameCube. I for one, am excited. If I can actually get anyone to pay me for one of my web jobs, I will be getting a DS Lite later this summer. And, if everything does well, I will be getting a Wii this fall.
At the moment, I eagerly await the following games for the next gen systems:
Xbox 360
- Halo 3
- Gears of War (only after I get Halo 3)
Playstation 3
- Nothing
Wii
- Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Mario Galaxy
- Metriod Prime 3
- Super Smash Brothers Blitz
- I’m sure there are more…
DS
- Zelda: Whatever its Name is
- Mario (already out)
- Metriod Hunters (already out)
- Kid Icarus (maybe?)
- Countless others…

Yes, Nintendo definitely has a strong showing and a good focus in their “we’re not competing with the other two” mentallity. I definitely think that just with the nastalgic factors the Wii presents will grab a lot of buyers, but a strong, new Nintendo library definitely can’t hurt either.
It was bound to happen that Sony’s crazy exaggerations were going to come and bite them in the end, and I think a lot of those fanboys are finally realizing it. It’s not leaps and bounds above the 360 as they claimed, at the moment they have identical games (graphically). I’m not even going into the crazy rip-off controller :p
I seriously don’t get what Sony is thinking. For one, their controller their “base” controller is identical to the clumsy PSX, and PS2 controller, what is up with that? I think it is pretty clear by now that this controller has not held up to the test of time. Particularly for FPS, since it has both analog sticks on the same axis.
However, copying the Wii controller functionality was to be expected. Perhaps just not this soon, I would have thought they would have waited to see if it was successful. If it is, you can be sure MS will release a similar mechanism too.
Other then MGS4 I agree with you fully jjafuller. Gears of War looks just totally brutal, intense and different for a third person shooter. Halo 3 I’m sure will be fantastic but xb360 showed nothing else that fantastic. I watched the MS keynote and the bullshit about windows gaming was awful
PS3 blew chunks other then MGS4 and GoW2. No good games no franchises NOTHING. Big blow losing exclucive rights to GTA4 as well…and don’t get me started at the $500 price.
E3 sold me on a DS and I heard news today that Metroid Prime for the Wii is a launch title so I maybe getting one of those as well. Nintendo did a “360″ in my eyes after their showing at E3. They had games to show footage to show games to play and my god they even look fun to play.

I’m sure MGS4 will be fine, but I would really like them to stop the smoke and mirrors and get serious about it. I do not want them to over hype and under deliver like they did with MGS3.
OK… FIRST OF ALL, there is bump mapping in -certain places- on Twilight princess. Its all over the place in the underwater temple, on ceilings and walls, on the boss too. LATER in the game, you can switch back and forth from wolf to human, AND – by the way- the game is suppsed to take a while to complete. If a game could be completed in one day, the first time ever played, then it would have very little value. The first time i played it took me 38 hours of gameplay, with little or no doddling around and whatnot.
PS3′s games are coming, you just have to realize that it can take up to 3 years, or more, to make just one game. Most of the games they have out now are just ported over from the Xbox 360, which is why they have’nt got any big titles yet. Gears of War isnt that great of a game. beautiful-yes, fun- not so much. It gets very very repetitive, and the 3rd person is annoying in my opinion. I just wish that ps3 price tag would come down a couple hundred.
