As it stands now, I doubt that you will see the movie ever. Also, it looks like the "quips" on rotten tomatoes pretty much hit home the problems with the story, I can only imagine that they are even more glaring in the film adaptation than they were to the lay reader in the book. Basically, you need to tell your "amigos" to "pick it up." Noir is excellent. There is plenty of stylized violence to keep things going. Van, it would not have mattered if you read the book or not, you would have not seen the movie in the theater. As it stands now, I doubt that you will see the movie ever.
