The fifth season of 24 has officially come to an end, and Jack Bauer is officially efing pissed.

As per the new annual tradition, I ventured out to the (now farther) home of one, vanlandw. This year, the turnout was a little smaller than usual, but not bad. Everyone else who totally bailed needs to be issued a stern “pick it up,” and that means you, vanberge!
Anyhow, the finale of 24 was pretty decent this year. However, the unfortunately cliffhanger ultimately rendered it inferior to last year’s offering.
The first twenty minutes of the 23rd hours were essentially flawless. Unfortunately, as a consequence of this, Jack took care of all his killing right away, leaving the finally tally for bauercount below that of last year as well. I was pretty glad to see the two annoying minor bad guys finally put out of Jack’s misery.
The last 100 minutes pretty much a mixed bag. It dealt mostly with trying to get Logan to implicate himself through some elaborate scheme. I did not think it worked very well, but lesser vans seemed to like it quite a bit. Fortunately, there were a few comedic events that transpired. The first, was the apparently inadequate sexual performance of the President of the United States. By my reckoning the entire event transpired in less than a single minute.
Perhaps the single funniest event, was when Logan walked into an airport hanger and bitch slapped his wife.
All things considered, I guess that I would have to put this season as the worst so far. However, this summer I do plan on re-watching the second and third seasons again in order to get a better bearing on everything. Historically, I have always liked the third the least, but I am pretty confident that the fifth has sunk a little lower. Probably because of the horrid over use, and poor acting of Kim Raver.
At this point, I am not exactly sure what they are going to do with the sixth season considering that they sent Jack to China. I have to admit that I hope they don’t pull the bullshit they did between seasons 2 and 3, and just skip ahead 18 months without telling you what transpired in the middle. Seriously, if Jack Bauer is running CTU field ops again as the beginning of season six I might stop watching the show.

“kill me….just kill me….”
I have to say that season 6 HOPEFULLY won’t be in the united states and HOPEFULLY with no terrorist plot.
for about two years i’ve been hoping for pretty big changes for 24 and again HOPEFULLY next year will be those changes. CTU needs to just go away. Also LA needs to never be targeted for a terrorist plot ever again.
There are a million things they can come up with Jack Bauer to do rather then stopping baddies….i think they could pull off an entire season with him just surviving China.
Seems nobody has a chance of coming back other then good guys. Every bad guy is dead. Maybe they could have Curtis assist Jack in breaking out of prison or a political camp. I kinda like after about 10 years of hell…maybe Jack just wants to give up….who knows jesus he has had about the worst existence ever since season 1. who knows but again they left the story wide open for a series of things to happen.
I need to rewatch season 4 and 5 again but i may put 5 a shade over 4. Season 3 is again prob my least favorite but it think it’s impossible to beat 1 and 2.
ok brb
not happy with season 5.
I felt it was weak. The end sucked. LAMESAUCE. Come on…Jack is the man…and yet he answers a LAND LINE. Someone start a bower count and find out how many times he actually uses a damn landline. His cell phone is is backup and he’s never without it. Kim would have called CTU and they would have forwarded the call to his cell. Total BS. This ending sucks. Now I know why I didn’t mind missing a few episodes this year. Next year might be the year I give up on 24. I think its getting too close to the end of its life.
I missed some of the finale last night. Are they going to show it again sometime soon?
thanks.
It’s unlikely. FOX usually does not do any syndication of the last season until the DVD’s come out. So, in all likeliness it might be this time before it airs again on television.
However, you can buy episodes of 24 in the iTunes music store, so sometime within the week the finale should be up there, since it is two episodes it would cost you $3.98.
Hi,
I just saw the finale of day 5 and i have to say that I was shocked when I saw Cheng. I thought: Oh my god that’s it. something bad is gonna happen to Jack.
“China has a long memory. Did you really think we would forget?”
Yes, well, unfortunately, Jack will be back in LA by the time that next season starts.
