Yesterday I was attempting to get my V3c to interface with my Mac via the bluetooth adapter I ordered. The results were less than successful to put it nicely. So, I called up Alltel (my horrid “service” provider) to see what the deal was.
In no uncertain terms, I asked the tech person “Did you, at Alltel, disable file exchange over bluetooth on the razrs?” To which she asked a series of question to figure out what exactly I was trying to do. Then, she put me on hold for several minutes before responding, “I can confirm that, that feature has been disabled.” When I began to ask why it was disabled she instantly started into the “song and dance” they are trained for, so I just hung up.
So, today I decided to try to “fix” the phone. Or, at least work out a way to get files on and off the phone without paying Alltel for it. I went through a series of different wiki’s and forums online to find out what I could, and ultimately did get something working…for a short period of time. I guess during one of the file transfers, the program hung and corrupted the file system on my phone.
Now, whenever I turn the phone on I get “Registering Applications…” for about a minute, and after that goes away, I can use the phone again…sort of. The overall functionality of the phone is sluggish, and whenever I do something that requires it to read files it is really slow. So, basically the thing is royally screwed something fierce.
At this point I do not have a lot of options. I guess that I am going to take it into the Alltel and see if they can fix it, or something. I may just return the phone out of disdain for the company.
UPDATE: EF Alltel. I talked to their tech support to see if there was something that I could do about the “registering applications” nonsense. The retard had the audacity to tell me “it is supposed to do that.” But, I digress, I managed to get a hold of some diagnostic tools that fixed the corruption in the file system (which was very minor). Also, I discovered that if i just suspend the phone before trying to transfer files it works wonderfully.

I used this site alot when trying to figure shit out with my phone:

i just bought a 1 gig miniSD card for my LG VX9800, and it should come in the mail soon. I don’t have any computers that are Blue Tooth capable, but I’m thinking of buying a USB adaptor if I end up transferring stuff a lot. I’m pretty sure with my model of phone I can just upload as many mp3s and videos as I want, provided they (the videos) are formatted correctly, etc. I doubt I’ll be using BlueTooth that much anyway, but who knows.
Well, hopefully they did not cripple the hell out of your phone as well.
ya, i learned about a year ago that bluetooth for not just alltel is designed only for using the wireless ear piece. To transfer files you should never use wireless on a phone, but use a cable. Moto does a bang up job though for protecting their phones. LG is one of the easiest to hack using BITPIM. I think that works with all LG and samsung phones. Alltel in addition to being a bitch of a company adds more security to their apps (mostly games). They make them runtime only. You have to buy a licence for the game. Thats all that gets downloaded. You then have to be on digital to play the game cause it streams it to your phone for play. They may have changed this in the last 3 months or so, but I’m guessing its the same. Other companies download the full games (which are java) so if your with alltel, you have to find some crazy hacks. Let me know if you find a fool proof way to hack that phone. I was thinking about getting it, but I may go to an LG.
and yes,
http://www.howardforum.com/
is the best and maybe only real site for great hacking articles. Be prepared to read through forum post all day. My answers were found at about 12 pages deep.
Yeah, I am aware of howard forums, they suck hard. Granted there is some useful information in there, if it cannot be gleened (sp) from a google search it isn’t worth the time looking for. Ultimately, I found my solution else where.
YOU FOUND A SOLUTION FULLJEFF??!?!?!?! =-O!
fudging moderation…i’m glad you have a solution jja!
(i’m assuming because i said “fu*ljeff” i got modded :-[ )
You are 100% correct. Everytime someone calls me that I am annoyed, so I annoy people that use it in my comments by modding it.
I am also considering modding “brb” since that seems to be getting used too frequently.
i am a noob
Can you point me in the right direction for the diagnostic tools that fixed this? I am very interested as I have a similar problem.
Yes, I have a problem with the “registering applications” message coming up when I boot up my phone. Were you refferring to PST as your diagnostic tool? I have looked all over google and the howard forums for some type of tool to fix corrupt file structures with a v3c, but I have not found anything. Could you help me out with how you found yours? Thanks.
That’s a good question. If I remember correctly, I believe it was the Motorola PST that actually fixed it. Basically, if you just perform a couple of disk operations, it will repair the file structure on the phone (which was my problem). It this does not work, you might actually have more serious damage on the phone.
“Motorola PST that actually fixed it”
Any chance that this could work for a V3M as well?
