Just a few nagging bug fixes for my adoring fans.
1. Fixed a bug causing the program to crash if there is no text to cut/copy.
2. Fixed a bug that resulted in a crash when enabling multi-monitor support.
3. Disabled “URL detection”
Check out the Dark Room Project Page
Or, just download now.
Now that’s what I call service — report a bug one day, come in the next and it’s fixed! Good work!
When using opacity different than 100%, changing windows causes the program to crash.
Brian- what do you mean by “changing windows.” Do you mean alt+tab?
Also – when screen is set to anything less than full opacity, scroll doesn’t work.
Brian and Michael – I have been unable to replicate either of these problems? I guess I need some more information about your particular situations.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
Good Program

I write sci-fi novels, and found it useful.
A minor bug. The Hungarian accented characters are ignored
I think other european languages works similar.
Can you remove the ‘filter’?
Thanks
Steve
It’s a beautiful program! Unfortunately the Margin setting in the preferences doesn’t seem to do anything now that I’ve set the Width to “auto” — also I can’t revert to a manual width setting. Editing the .config file by hand doesn’t seem to have any effect.
And one tiny feature request, pretty much the only thing more I could want: word count. Thanks!
Hi,
Great program! Unfortunately everytime I copy text I get the following exception (no, not empty text, as I see you fixed that bug). I am running on a TabletPC if that matters. Also running version 0.6.2.0 of your software.
[removed debug info -JF]
I’m having some troubles with the dual screen support, when I start in full screen the primary monitor goes dark as exspected, the secondary just flashes black for a very short amount of time (something like .2s). Turning off Focus Follows mouse didn’t seam to fix it (didn’t attempt paranoid reboot after disabling)
Any help would be apreciated
Could you change Dark Room so that the CachedContent.dat file is saved somewhere under each user’s “\Local Settings\Application Data\Dark Room” directory, please? To get the context menu “Open with Dark Room” to work for ordinary users I have to set that option logged in as an administrator, but then regular users get an error about the CachedContent.dat file when exiting Dark Room.
And would an option to change tabs to a configurable number of spaces be too non-minimalistic?
Thanks very much.
Just noticed some printing problems:
Instead of the font I chose in Dark Room’s preferences, Verdana is used for printing.
The first character in the first line gets dropped into the Bit Bucket instead of being sent to the printer.
Looks very good and useful but doesn’t display russian characters (code page win-1251).
Are you sure it’s not the font you’re using? I can do Serbian Cyrillic in Dark Room with Lucida Console just fine, but not with Lucida Sans Typewriter because it’s lacking those glyphs.
This is a fantastic program.. my only complaint is that directory for the config file location is really obfuscated. Can you get rid of the ‘DarkRoom.exe_Url_’ sub-folder and just keep things in %HOME%\Application Data\DarkRoom\ ?
One other thing – When selecting an entire line that includes a Carriage Return (i.e. start at the beginning of a line and press Ctrl-DownArrow), it is cut properly. However, the carriage return is not pasted when using Ctrl-V. The CR is in the clipboard buffer, so the paste function must be stripping it.
Fantastic work. I use DarkRoom frequently for writing articles and resumes. If you don´t mind I have some feature-requests
:
* word counter / lines counter. as journalist you often have to write articles of particular length.
* better printing support: If you print the text, it´s printed with really big letters. It would be great to configure the font-width for printing.
* Perhaps you add a link to the DarkRoom-Project-Page in the About-Box or the Help-Menu. This would make it possible for unknowing people to download newer versions
Jeff, re: my comment on September 5th, 2006 at 6:14 pm — I can’t reproduce this problem either! Now scrolling is fine. Maybe it had to do with another program open at the same time? If I can figure it out, I’ll let you know.
Michael- thanks for the heads up. I really need to get a bug tracker or something going
Florian- all your suggestions have been integrated into the new version.
Matt- unfortunately, I cannot do that, MS has it set up that way for some reason or another. I don’t recall off the top of my head. Also, I was unable to reproduce the copy/paste problem you described.
Anand- I have been unable to replicate your bug.
Jeff, sorry for the delay.
By “changing windows” I meant Alt+Tab, or just switching the windows with the mouse cursor.
When opacity is less than 100% and I switch to another program and then switch back to DarkRoom, the text cursor disappears. Sometimes the whole window disappears and the only thing left of DarkRoom is the window title. When this happens if I press Ctrl+, DarkRoom starts working regularly again.
I hope I was clearer =)
Congratulations on the app. As many have said, it’s amazing.
Dark Room is great. I would REALLY like the ability, though, to bring the program opacity down to zero, but keep the text visible, so I can type on my desktop. All that needs to be done is have a separate opacity slider for the text. I really don’t want the text less visible anyway when I bring the program opacity down… just the background. Makes it easier to see.
