Well, it looks like Snake accidentally wondered into a PS2. Oops!
I am not completely sure why, but I guess that Hideo decided to release some horribly unready screenshots to the public. Now, if you take a look at them, it is pretty obvious that that character models are top notch, but the environments are woefully inadequate. It seriously looks like a PS2 game. However, the problem is not just very low quality textures, and the completely lack of bump mapping, etc… that is the problem. It looks as those the design of the stage is rather lack luster, I predict this game will be plagued with unrealistic ground layout and invisible walls all over the place.
It is my sincere hope that they clean up the environment quite significantly, other wise this over hyped game is going to turn out to be one of the biggest disappointments of 2007.
The game is seriously not coming out for over a year on my best estimate. The trailer they showed makes me feel they are making great progress. Sound is strong characters look fantastic and the military research they have done looks to be paying off.
Do you remember when they were making HL2 they showed levels with no textures just orange? I believe some of the textures/levels are place fillers just so they can get things running. I have to say visually the game will pick it up for release.
Wheres the Halo 3 footage? After showing a pretty post-polished trailer I bet they are even futher back in the development process then the MGS4 team is. At least MGS has SOMETHING to show fans. Bungie is being way to “:-X” for me to even attempt to get excited about anything.

Wes, why it whenever I make a comment about MGS4 you just launch into a rant against Halo 3? I am in no way justifying anything that Bungie is doing. I don’t see this as a MGS4 v. Halo 3 competition in anyway. So, I guess what I am saying is “pick it up.”
