Silver Pwn’d

pwnd

This post is primarily to get other people’s thoughts, rather than simply espousing my own.

As we he into 8 PM, we are more than halfway through was is drably shaping up to be the sixth season of 24. At this point, I am less than impressed overall. This is mainly due to the fact that this season has failed to illicit any kind of emotional reaction for me. It has all pretty much just been “blah.”

Certainly, there were things that I did not like, such as Graham being Jack’s brother, and Jack’s dad being bad. I mean seriously, what is that all about, and how does it make the show better given the context of what Jack Bauer is.

Quite typically, it is commonly thought that season 3 was the worst (granted in Jason’s backwards engineer thinking, 3 was the best, but I cannot even address that right now  ), but the sixth season seems to be shaping up to take that stop over.

Here are a few tidbits as to why season 3 is better than season 6 so far

1. I hated the first half
2. The prison riot scene was classic 24.
3. No major Bauer bitch screwing everything up
4. The termination of Nina
5. Jack being Jack

Here are a few tidbits as to why season 6 is worse than season 3

1. Not enough Jack
2. Doesn’t “feel” like 24
3. Conspiracies
4. Another Palmer bites the dust
5. Silver Spoons

Here are the things that are nice about season 6

1. Perhaps the best camera shots of any of the seasons
2. Pump shotgun

Here are the things I am thankful for in season 6

1. No Audrey (yet)
2. A hot new CTU girl
3. Curtis dying for NOTHING

I think I have to agree with EVERYTHING jja has said. He put it best in a chat today…..it’s tough getting silver when your used to gold. That is how I feel about this season. Without question this season is my least favorite and I think nothing can salvage it from that status. Then I think about the prior 5 seasons of goodness and I’m OK with that.

I posted on vanbergs’s post and I’ll post it again. About the first five or so episodes were about perfection. Curtis getting owned for no reason is funny and has that 24 charm to it for some reason. When the bauer family drama hit about nothing good came from that. And the past 4-5 episodes of bauer light episodes didn’t help matters. Runing Aaron Pierce and Logan was tough to stomach……

This weeks episode was better then anything recently but again very “episodic”. Five mins of recap and some decent stuff with jack for 25 seconds and a good finish. I miss the days of the heller rescue where the best shit was in the first 10 mins.

I am hoping for a strong action filled ending of this season. Really things can only go up from here. Some may think I’m being overly positive but yeah why not it’s just TV and it’s suppose to be fun!

I do not agree. Season 4 was the worst, prior to this season. I do agree, however that this season is putrid. It is not silver. It is not even precious metal. It is anus.

Also i’d like to add that 24 has lost the ‘real time’ mantra. They need to just fucking stop saying things like “within the hour”. I mean seriously, logan was dying at the end of last episode… Apparently he just went an hour without any status update.

Then of course there are things like: “Hey, that chopper got readied and flew out in 3 minutes.. sweet”. Or “Whoa – bauer got from the consulate to CTU in 4 minutes…” The real time aspect has become an overplayed overused technicality and it is fucking stupid now. IMO.

ef 24. I guarantee with 100% certainty that i do not even finish watching this season

Eric, you have demostrated that you are off base and off target. You should spend some time watching Wife Swap, and other contemporary programming. And then, go back and re-evaluate the situation.

Other contemporary programming would be season 6 of 24. As i’ve stated that i will stop watching that, im sorry but i cannot complete your request jja.

i can understand quitting a show. i would stop watching prison break if it wasn’t on before 24.

I would be the same way with Lost but the same with 24 I gotta see it though. I remember watching the first episode of Lost on vacation in Oscoda and I’ve just stuck with it even though most of the stuff i like about it are things I really shouldn’t (the on location hawaii shots are amazing but Lost days way to much soundstage stuff, the removal of the survival aspects of the show).

I’m the same way with 24 now. The stuff I like about 24 are the things I shouldn’t. I remember season 5 watching the episodes and laughing and making fun of the show more then taking things seriously like I did when we used to watch 24 in our laker village apartment. Season 5 was good though but I do miss all the old characters more then I thought I ever would….
