Nail in the Coffin

Yesterday, The Economist did the unthinkable: they endorsed Obama. I knew that will all of McCain’s screw ups that there was no way that they would endorse him. And, since Obama’s platform generally conflicts with what are accepted truths at The Economists I never imagined that they would endorse him either. It seemed that the most likely choice would be to endorse no one as they have done a few times in the past. I am at least somewhat comforted by the fast that is isn’t a mushy Obama love poem like so many endorsements I’ve read. They pretty much lay out all the facts as they know them, and admitted they are making a risky choice. In short, they went to Vegas for the buffet but found it undesirable, and then walked over to the casino and put it all on black.

By the way, The Economist doesn’t really have a good track record when it comes to picking winners. And, they always seem to pick against the incumbent, even if they endorsed them originally. I still have my fingers crossed. But, I honestly think that if McCain wins this its going to be because of the racist vote and that quite frankly, sucks.

I don’t know a single person in my social and family circle that is voting McCain but it’s not like he doesn’t have huge support.

That article is dead on pretty much I’ll give them that.

i should also chime in here: i believe that many people in my family who have been registered republicans their whole lives will be voting for obama. this race is going to be a complete clusterfuck.

Maybe my family has just evolved in such a way that makes us naturally reject charismatic people.
