There May be Hope Yet

While on the other side of the state this weekend for my maternal grandfather’s seventieth I found a glimmer of hope. Apparently, everyone in my family (parents, grandparents, siblings, uncles, aunts, and cousins) will all be voting for the republican presidential candidate for the first time ever. There is something that gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling when a registered democrat manages to lay out a convincing argument for why you should not to vote for Barack Obama.

Cheers.

You’re right, apparently he spells his first name incorrectly. Anyhow, their argument did not hit on the really important points, but they did make some interesting points. For example, they cited his noted mentors, Michael Pfleger, James Meeks (in addition to Wright), and other fairly racist, and irrational individuals. Which is actually quite a bit better to the tenuous connections drawn by the McCain campaign and Fox News. Additionally, one of the major concerns is growing government (particularly entitlements) and raising taxes. And, yes I know that Obama is claiming to cut direct income taxes, but other democrats (such as Clinton) have made tax cut claims that never materialized during their presidencies. Surprisingly, none of them had taken into consideration my primary concern: uncontested power in the hands of the democratic party.

i have a ticket to the obama rally in grant park tomorrow night. look for me on tv, fulljeff. i’ll be the one with the obama sign. :P

and as far as his mentors are concerned (especially wright), give it a rest. he has been very outspoken with the types of people he will surround himself in the whitehouse, and they are all mainstream. no one on either side should bring up religious affiliations. if you’re going to go that route, you have a lot more explaining to do with palin than you do with obama.

bun, you should be the one WITHOUT the sign, it’ll make you easier to spot. Regarding his mentors, this is not the basis for my decision not to vote for him. However, all he does is attempt to dismiss away anything negative about the people he noted for shaping his life, which is straight up dissembling but I would expect that from a politician so I don’t hold that against him. I also know a few people that won’t be voting for him because he is so fervently pro-abortion.
