Once again this year at almost the same time as last year I once again find myself suffering from the stomach “flu,” although this time I was the last person in my family to get it instead of one of the only people to get it. It’s pretty ridiculous. Next year I am getting every shot I can get I am sick of getting sick.

Screaming Fast, Like its 2004!
Due to the death of my good computers, I have found myself relegated to my PowerMac G5. Surprisingly this machine is stilling going strong. Fortunately, I had replaced the video card, and maxed the ram a few years ago.
But, the hard drive in this thing was so freaking loud that something had to be done. I debating getting a newer drive on the hope that it would be quieter, but decided to bite the bullet and just get a solid state drive. Now that I have run it for a couple of days, I have to say that this machine is running as fast as it possibly can. Which means it is actually quite useable. IO operations are pretty good, the age is really only noticeable on CPU intensive activities.
There is No PC like PowerPC
After the recent, untimely death of both my MacBook Pro, and Windows 7 Desktop, I find myself once again revisiting the loud, slow, and robust PowerMac G5. I think I may start judging the reliability of my electronics based upon their weight.
Wheels are Turning
Looks like I have a couple potential leads for a couple of places to start playing D&D again. And, while it would not be near the scale we were doing before it would certainly be better that nothing!
Also, to support this rebirth I have started a new group called “Dark Flame Tavern” that I will be using to coordinate organized play in the area.
Scourge of the Healthcare Industry
This morning I went in to see my doctor. It has been been a while since I have been there, probably close to a year, and in that time frame things have changed. The practice my doctor was part of has now been devoured by the insatiable beast that is Spectrum Health. Initially I was quite off put by this because I have had terrible luck with Spectrum facilities. Thanks to the blizzard there were not very many people there so I was actually able to get in without waiting too long. Aside from that everything else was pretty much the same as always, although it was nice to see that they finally started using computers instead of paper charts. I always found the later to be quite inefficient.
