I happened upon this old truism again while surfing today. And, while I am sure it is probably an unwelcome sentiment in the brainwashed Obama era, it is still reality:

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot help little men by tearing down big men.

You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

You cannot build character and courage by destroying men’s initiative and independence.

And you cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.

The Ten Cannots was published by William J. H. Boetcker back in 1916.

“Our freedom is slowly eroding as our complacency grows. We ourselves are responsible for becoming more politically active, and changing the un-American policies embraced by our federal administration.”

Now, taking that into consideration I am not advocating a rejection of the republican party for the democratic one. Because, while the republican party has begun rotting from the inside, the democratic party has always been rotten. We are at a unique crossroads in the nation, because we are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

If only people would have listened to Washington and rejected the two party system.

Tonight, I shall quest for the Halo 2. I’m not exactly sure who will be selling it in the traditionally early closing lakeshore district. But, I will find I copy. I…simply must. Base on the first Halo game, and everything that I have heard about the sequel I am certain that it will be the best game to ever be released for any system up to this point.

My meager degree in CS has not given me the proper ability to express my desire to play this game in words. Thus, I feel that I must follow the steps of my elected leader, George W. Bush, and utilize some bushims to try to get some points across:

Bush wisely realized that people were concerned with the U.S.’s ability to face the Covenant threat, “I hear there’s rumors on the Internets that we’re going to have a draft.”

Apparently, the Covenant are against the war in Iraq, “the enemy understands a free Iraq will be a major defeat in their ideology of hatred. That’s why they’re fighting so vociferously.”

Bush lies out what life might be like under Covenant occupation, “the CIA laid out several scenarios and said life could be lousy, life could be OK, life could be better, and they were just guessing as to what the conditions might be like.”

This quote speaks for itself, “Free societies are hopeful societies. And free societies will be allies against these hateful few who have no conscience, who kill at the whim of a hat.”

It seems that the U.S. will be instituting some kind of cyborg army to face the Covenant. Hopefully they are all as capable as Master Chief, “We will make sure our troops have all that is necessary to complete their missions. That’s why I went to the Congress last September and proposed fundamental — supplemental funding, which is money for armor and body parts and ammunition and fuel.”

Shit. It looks like we are screwed either way, “Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.”

“We stand for things,” damn straight!

I’m glad that our leader is thinking ahead, and hopefully formulating effective strategies to defeat our alien invaders, “My job is to, like, think beyond the immediate.”

Just to make sure we are clear, “There is no such thing necessarily in a dictatorial regime of iron-clad absolutely solid evidence. The evidence I had was the best possible evidence that he had a weapon.

And, in summary, “I hope you leave here and walk out and say, ‘What did he say?’”

Here is the correct version of the quote that I am always destroying when I try to repeat:

I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair.

Then I thought, wouldn’t it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happened to us come because we actually diserve them?

So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe.
