Bike Ride

Well, I finally decided the break the bike out for the first time this year. It does not seem to have handled the off season very well as there are some visible rust spots developing, so I will have to figure out what to do about that. Aside from that though, it was just the usual caked on dust and low air pressure in the tires.

I decided for the first time out I would run the “loop” that is about 10 miles, and includes a variety of rural and urban terrain. Luckily, everything seemed to work out without any hitches. But, I still need to go out and pick up a repair kit for this bike, since I haven’t as of yet. I tend to go through many chains so it is nice to have a couple extra links with me.

Stopping for a bottle of water seemed like a good idea, since it was in the 90′s and I forgot to bring some with me. Unfortunatey, I was greeted by some pretty stiff pricing. $1.75 for a 20 oz bottle, ouch. Sometimes I find it pretty difficult to believe that water is so much more expensive than gasoline.

I took a couple photos at the park, but they are nothing special. You can check them out if you want.

Why Don’t People Understand Minimum Wage?

Considering that I just wrote a long post about the evils of minimum wage, I figured I would go ahead and post this link to the comments on a digg article regarding the federal increase in minimum wage.

It always amazes me how many people do not understand that minimum wage is a bad thing. I mean, they can all identify the poverty problem, so why can’t they figure out that minimum wage does not solve that problem? And, only makes things worse overall?

Oh well, here is the link: House GOP leaders grudgingly agree to minimum wage increase

Clerks 2

There is not a whole lot to say about this movie. It is in many ways like the first one, as it is features the original characters, some Jay and Silent Bob, traditional “bathroom humor,” nerdy banter (favoring Star Wars), and so on. It all works, so none of it is a problem.

Do not doubt that there is some screwed up stuff in this movie. Perhaps the worst is a scene that I shall refer to strictly as “the donkey scene.” There is also something that I would refer to as a “full fontal” nudity scene, but that was kind of self censored in a way (thank goodness).

The only thing that kind of annoyed me about the film is the relatively constant ragging on Transformers and Lord of the Rings. It is pretty obvious that Kevin believe the original Star Wars trilogy as the penultimate geek experience.

Regardless, if you like the original, I cannot really see a big reason as to why you would not like the sequel. So, you should probably go out and see it.

I think this photo speaks for itself.

[censored] the Spammer

Apparently, one [censored] has resorted to the lowly tactics of spamming in order to get donations for something or the other. You can read the spam email [removed] that he actually sent me today. :???: It would seem as those this mentality is all pervasive in [censored]‘s online presence, as he website is perpetually “down” website now links to some crappy donor pledge form, or some such other nonsense.

Naturally, since spam tactics were employed I am automatically forced to believe that the cause is not worthy of my donation. Therefore, I recommend everyone else be leery of them as well.

So, I have to say, “[censored], pick it up!” Oh, and please take off the spam hat.
