As an experiment, I have added an ad box at the top of my content column here. I am just checking to see if this placement creates any more revenue. I am not a huge fan of this placement, so I did add a link so that you can hide the ads if you don’t like seeing them.

Fierce Stench
Words cannot describe the hideous odor I experienced this evening.
This evening my father and mother went out salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. They managed to catch a couple, and called to have me come down to the dock with Jesse so I could drop him off and pick up my mother.
By the time I got back to the house with my mother, it smelled like a legion of skunks had exploded both inside and outside the house. The smell was thick and pungent, one of those thick flavors you can chew. So, I was running around the house gagging. At this point it was inconceivable that the smell could be any worse. That is when my father pulled out the carving knife.
By this point, the skunk odor was reaching its apex complimented by the over powering smell of fish guts. Yup, it was a real winning combination. I am not exactly sure how I got through it without vomiting, because I felt it coming up more than once.
So, without hesitation, after bagging up most of the salmon for the freezer, my dad takes a chunk and starts frying it up with all kinds of stinking spices. The smells were so over powering that I had to go outside. I never thought that I would think heavy skunk stench was “fresh air.”
Can you have nightmares about stench? I think I will find out tonight.
Department of Public Annoyance

It is one thing to require commuter students to purchase parking passes for no apparent reason, it is quite another to make it ridiculously inconvenient.
Luckily, I managed to slip in below the radar at both the Allendale and Pew campuses, as I had forgotten to purchase one of these blasted parking permits that the new draconian regime has instituted. Maybe they were just being lenient because it was the first day. Though, DPS does not have a history of leniency so I doubt that is the case, it is probably more a matter of incompetence.
While I was on the Allendale campus, I was just going to drop by DPS to pick up a permit, no big deal I thought. As I walked up to the front door I saw signs plastered all over the place that said:
PARKING PERMITS MUST BE ORDERED ONLINE
[the url to the relevant site]
I was quite annoyed, but did not have the time to bitch annoy one out about it, since I had to pick up books before my class at Pew. So, I drove up to Pew and managed to talk one of the “toll both” lackeys into letting me park there for the day, because I had not received my permit yet.
This morning, I went to the url that I was instructed to go to in order to purchase a permit. Much to my dismay I was shot through a maze of links that took me through several parts of the GVSU website without indicated what exactly I was supposed to do at the next. For example, sending someone to the SIS login page without informing them that, that is where they are going and what to do once you get there.
To cap off my irritation, once I finally dug my way through to the order form, and have agreed to the charges, they give me a receipt without payment. Apparently, rather than just taking payment for the permit, they charge it to your so called “student account” whatever that is.
So, now I have to try to figure out what my student account is, and how the hell I am supposed to pay it. Bah.
Oh yeah, I should probably mention that this post in no way has anything to do with Deyshia Steketee, I just needed a DPS photo for the post.
Emmy Awarding Winning 24
Well, I have to say that the Emmy people destroyed a perfectly good post idea I had. I was seriously expected that DREADFUL series, Grey’s Anatomy to win best drama this year. So, I was kicking around ideas for a nice bitchfest post about it. Unfortunately, since 24 took home the honor for best series am I left speechless on the matter?
Sure, 24 is the best television show currently on the air, so it would make since for it to win I was just not expecting it.
So…yeah, no post on the issue I guess.
Oh yeah, Kiefer won the relevant best actor category as well, go figure.
Beerfest (2006)

There sure are a lot of better movies out there right now. But, this one is not that bad.
There is not a whole lot that can be said about this film. Basically, the title explains it all. Basically, the film is about a couple of guys who made a trip to Germany to spread the ashes of their father. This trip leads them from the “tame” Oktoberfest (sp), to the more surreal Beerfest that takes place in the German underground.
Upon their first visit they are destroyed by the defending German champions of the contest that happen to be their cousins. They return home, and gather a team of the best beer games people they know and begin training for the following year’s Beerfest.
The film is relatively low brow, but it did mostly stay away from the pathetic humor that I was expecting (flatulence jokes, etc…). I would say more of the jokes tend towards the “frat boy” style.
The film was ok, and if you are into drinking heavily, or did so in college it would probably be a good time.
